Downtown hot-spot Crumbs Café has closed it’s doors as of Nov 23.

Few details are available for the closure, but a sign posted on the window states that the property was seized by the landlord and all assets have been turned over to the property manager.

Crumbs Entertainment’s Dirk “Dillinger” Stewart confirmed that debt played a part in the closure.

Stewart said that the Crumbs may re-open in their old location in January, however a move to Queen Street is also a possibility.

Bill Kayelich, the owner of the business, won’t be available for comment until tomorrow.

UPDATE: According to the property manager for 551 Kings Street Anthony Streatch, Crumbs management was given 60 days notice over rent payments not being made.

The issue is one which Streatch said the business has struggled with over the last year.

Management was given the chance to remove all personal belongings from the property.  Everything else is to be itemized to cover off the debt.

When asked how this will effect employees, Streatch said he was unsure about their status, as he has no role in the business.
