University warns of bear on campus

Today, around 3:30pm, the university notified students that a bear cub was spotted on campus last night.

The Department of Natural Resources has been notified.

The email that was sent out reminds students to keep the campus clean of food and garbage so that wildlife isn’t attracted.  It also says:

If you do meet up with a bear, it is recommended that you leave the area immediately (often backing away slowly is the best option) and call Campus Security at 453-4830.

Students should never approach wild bears, even cubs, as they are potentially dangerous wild animals.
