St. Thomas University’s board of governors has named former politician Dennis Cochrane interim president and vice chancellor.
Andrea Seymour, chair of the board of governors, released a statement Monday.
“Mr. Cochrane comes to St. Thomas with a unique combination of experience and capabilities,” she said in the statement.

Mary-Dan Johnston is the newest vice-president at the St. Thomas University students’ union. Johnston secured 67 per cent of the votes during the by-election that finished Friday.
Of 268 votes, Johnston garnered 180, her opponent, Mitch Messom recieved 80, and eight were spoiled.

Campaigning began today and runs until Nov. 11. Candidate speeches are tomorrow and Monday in James Dunn Hall at 3:00.
A student union by-election slated to happen Nov. 9 and 10 has been postponed until Nov. 12 and 13.
The by-election was scheduled last week after Vice President Administration Corben McLean submitted his resignation.
