<p>On Canada Day in 2016, Michael Otoo&#8217;s life changed forever. The former Mount Allison Mounties guard from Ottawa, Ontario, was in a motor vehicle pedestrian accident, causing him to lose teeth, break a rib and suffer from a traumatic brain injury. <p>The St. Thomas University women’s hockey team outmatched the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleu at the Grant-Harvey Centre Jan. 22, 3-0. When the puck dropped the Tommies didn&#8217;t hesitate. <p>The World Junior Hockey Championships have become a bigger Canadian celebration than Boxing Day for hockey fans. Even though the tournament was in the Czech Republic this year, the seats of the arenas are still a sea of Canadians dressed in red from head to toe. <p>After another disappointing season for the St. Thomas University men&#8217;s rugby team which saw them go 0-6, head coach Curtis Lauzon has decided to step down from his duties. &#8220;The reflection happened throughout the season,&#8221; Lauzon said. The Reds began the evenly-played period with a quick goal resulting from their first shot on net. This was followed by a consistent back and forth between the separate ends. While coming off a championship season with the Fredericton high school Black Kats, only STU and the University of New Brunswick Saint John wanted to recruit her out of high school. <p>The St. Thomas University Tommies&#8217; women’s hockey team faced the University of New Brunswick Reds on Nov. 27 for the third game of the Battle of the Hill series this season. <p>When the buzzer sounded after the UNB Reds&#8217; 10-0 victory against the Dalhousie University Tigers on Nov. 22, it didn&#8217;t just mark their 11th win of the season. It signaled a milestone. <p>The St. Thomas University women’s hockey team split a pair of weekend home games on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23. Their Friday night matchup welcomed the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers to town, while the Saturday night matchup had the Tommies face-off against the Mount Allison University Mounties. <p>Geoffrey Lavoie, a second-year basketball player at St. Thomas University, was named the ACAA athlete of the week on Nov. 13 after a 30-point performance against the Crandall University Chargers. <p>It was another successful season for the Tommies fall sports teams, which featured club records,  finals appearances from the women’s rugby team and then women’s soccer team. <p>The St. Thomas University men&#8217;s volleyball team started off hot in their home opener against the Université Sainte-Anne Dragons, sweeping them off the court and handing the Dragons their first loss of the season. <p>The St. Thomas University basketball teams had a successful season opener last Saturday, defeating the Mount Allison Mounties 53-44 for the women&#8217;s side while the men&#8217;s team slammed a close victory with 82-70.&nbsp; Women&#8217;s team&nbsp; Bridget Frazee was beaming with Tommie pride on Saturday afternoon, racking up a total of 19 points, including one three-pointer [&hellip;]</p>

<p>After a couple months of conversation between a new Fredericton hockey team and St. Thomas University Tommies over a locker room at the Grant-Harvey Centre, a resolution has been reached.
