<p>Carissa McTague of the St. Thomas University women&#8217;s basketball team was named the Tommies Coastal Graphics Athlete of the Month for February. The fifth-year post from Rothesay recorded 94 points and 73 rebounds in seven games during the final month of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association regular season. <p>The X&#8217;s ended up aligning almost perfectly for the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women against the Tommies in the Atlantic University Sport women&#8217;s hockey semifinals. <p>Three Tommies forwards and three rearguards were recently recognized for their efforts during the 2016-17 Atlantic University Sport women&#8217;s hockey season. Fifth-year defender Eliza Snider of St. Thomas University was named to the AUS first all-star team, while her fellow fifth-year, captain Kelty Apperson, and second-year defenseman Jessie McCann each earned second team all-conference honours. <p>The Tommies men&#8217;s volleyball team fell short in its quest for a fourth consecutive conference banner. St. Thomas University fell 3-0 to the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves on Saturday night in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association men&#8217;s semifinals. <p>Several St. Thomas University track and field records and personal benchmarks were broken at the Saint Mary&#8217;s University Open on Saturday, Feb. 11 in Halifax. Fourth-year STU runner Brandon LeBlanc surpassed his own university record in the men&#8217;s 600-metre race with an all-time best finish of 1:27:20. <p>Saturday&#8217;s 4-3 win over the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers earned the Tommies women&#8217;s hockey team a first-round playoff bye.
