Indian dance a crowd favourite

They danced in front of a tapestry reading “The World is Ours.” Their dance was fluid, graceful, and a crowd favourite.

The India representatives at the STUISA’s multicultural fair showed off their stuff in a traditional Indian dance that was sharp, energetic and ended with loud applause.

Steven Lecky, MC for the evening and participant in many acts, showed off his talent with both his voice, and his feet.

“This is my fourth time as MC at the Multicultural Fair,” he said. “I have also done a piece of Indian Dance in two out of the four times I have participated.”

Lecky was an active organizer of the fair – a fair that has become popular for both the St. Thomas and Fredericton community.

“I love doing it. It’s stressful but very enjoyable at the same time.”

The Indian dance included two talented women – Devika Dadhe and Anu Thomas, dressed in traditional Indian clothing. Halfway through the number, Lecky joined.

The three danced with chemistry, and left the crowd laughing and impressed.

Dadhe co-hosted the night with Lecky, and showed off her talent during the Indian piece.

“I always like to think that all Indians have dance in their blood,” Dadhe said. “I really love doing it, and showing others what the culture’s like.”

When the dance ended the room erupted in applause.

The night was a success, showcasing talent from many nationalities around the world, and the country of India was well represented.
