This weekend could have been make or break for the St. Thomas Tommies men’s hockey team.

The Tommies needed to win both games this weekend against the Acadia Axeman and Saint Mary’s Huskies to have any chance of making the playoffs.

The Tommies were unable to secure a win, losing their games 5-2 and 7-4 respectively. This is the second straight year that the men’s hockey team missed the playoffs. Their record stands at 7-19-2.

STU was in a tight race against Dalhousie going into the playoff stretch.

For most of the season St. Thomas held on to the final playoff position, only to have lost to Moncton and moving Dalhousie in to sixth place.

STU and Dalhousie hoped to keep Moncton at bay and out of contention for the final playoff spot. Moncton stole the last playoff spot, leaving both St. Thomas and Dalhousie out of the playoffs for another year.
