Photo Essay: A meet and greet around Fredericton

In the city of Fredericton, people from all walks of life stroll through the streets.
In the daily hustle bustle, we often take for granted the importance of connecting and having conversations with the people around us.
At the end of the day, we are walking the same streets of Fredericton and taking a moment to share a smile can change a person’s day.
Meet Noah Buote, an undergraduate student at the University of New Brunswick (UNB).
Completing his mechanical engineering degree will be one of Buote's major life accomplishments.
“It has had a lot of ups and downs. There's been many points in it where I thought I wasn't going to make it through, I had classes where I didn't pass,” said Buote. “Coming up as one of the biggest milestones of my life and I feel unbelievably accomplished.”
Buote is in his final year at UNB and is coasting towards his finish line.

Sitting on a bench in downtown Fredericton, Peyton Balentine creates a notebook. Even though people perceive her as shy, Balentine believes she’s quite the opposite.
“People wouldn't assume I have so much personality,” said Balentine.

Gabriel Lavoie, originally from Quebec, moved to Fredericton about a year ago to pursue his goal to work up the ladder of the army.
“I’m doing training, for the fighting.”

Meet Mary Giberson, an employee at the downtown thrift store Outfits.
“My favourite thing about myself is my creativity,” said Giberson. “I love having the ability to do whatever I want.”

Ryan Coates and Mira Allen have been dating since 2021.
Both Coates and Allen could not choose only one favourite quality about each other.
“She's an amazing cook, she's patient,” said Coates.
“I was also going to say patient too … caring, supportive and would follow me across the world wherever I want to go,” said Allen.

Meet Nick Scott, an avid fan of singer Phil Collins.
During his meditative walk, Scott felt Collins’s In the Air Tonight.
“It was a walking meditation with Phil,” said Scott.
